Grand Opening
Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties (HFHMSCO) is thrilled to announce the Grand Opening of its Habitat ReStore at 1024 Wapakoneta Ave. in the Sidney Food Town Plaza. The store will open to the public for shopping at 10am on Thursday May 1st. Local radio station Hits 105.5FM will be broadcasting live from 11am – 1pm. At noon, there will be a ribbon cutting with representatives from Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby County and the Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce.
What Is a Habitat ReStore?
Habitat ReStores specialize in selling donated items to the public at affordable prices. Proceeds directly support Habitat for Humanity’s mission of building affordable homes and offering critical home repair services to local families in need. The Sidney ReStore will mirror the hours of the Troy location, operating Tuesday through Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM. It will be closed on Sundays and Mondays. Once open, the inventory at ReStores changes frequently based on donations received. Shoppers in Sidney can expect to find furniture, lighting, and hardware on a regular basis. In addition to these items, at the Grand Opening they will be carrying new Armor-All car detailing products and two pallets of brand-new Glacier Bay undermount sinks in two different sizes. They come with faucets, sprayers, and strainers and will be available while supplies last. Shoppers might also find appliances, rugs, windows, doors, and more.
Donation and Pickup Services HFHMSCO relies on the generosity of the community for donations of gently used and new items. The Sidney ReStore offers a donation center at the rear of the building for smaller items and will provide pickup services for larger donations from donors’ homes. Donations can currently be made in person Tuesday -Friday from 10am-4pm and Saturday between 10am-1pm. Pickups can be scheduled by calling 937-703-8693. Starting May 1, donations can be dropped off during normal business hours.
About Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties
Since 1992, HFHMSCO has been building homes and offering critical home repair services to families in need. Based in Troy, OH, the organization builds one to two homes annually and serves families earning 30%–80% of the median income in Miami and Shelby Counties. In addition to building, HFHMSCO has a Home Repair Program and operates the Troy ReStore in addition to the new Sidney ReStore. HFHMSCO offers corporate volunteer opportunities in three key areas: assisting with home builds or repair projects under the guidance of a Construction Manager, working in the Habitat Activity Center to build playhouses and furniture, and helping staff with ReStore operations.
