Habitat for Humanity believes everyone deserves a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home. Our Home Repairs Program helps eligible homeowners improve the safety, accessibility, and livability of their existing homes, with a focus on accessibility modifications for older adults and individuals with disabilities.
Through projects such as wheelchair ramps, grab bars, accessible entrances, and other mobility-related improvements, we help homeowners remain safe, independent, and comfortable in the homes they love. Our goal is to support aging in place and remove barriers that make daily living more difficult.
The Home Repairs Program is made possible entirely through grant funding and is provided at no cost to eligible homeowners. Repairs are completed by our dedicated volunteers and skilled professionals under the direction of our Construction Manager, ensuring quality workmanship and lasting impact.
- Handicap ramp
- Walk-in shower
- Handicap bar installation
- Handrail replacement on stairs or porches
- Installing threshold or removing trip hazards
- Installing raised or comfort height toilets
- Replace doorknobs with lever handles
- Improving lighting in key areas for individuals with vision impairments
Qualifying Families Must
Live within our service area of Miami and Shelby Counties
Have owned their home for a minimum of 12 months
Have income below 80% of the median household income in their county.
Hold current and up to date homeowner’s insurance
Provide documentation (proof of income for all family members, income tax return, current mortgage statement, proof of property insurance, copy of govt issued identification)
Pass a background and sex offender check.
RESTRICTIONS:
*We cannot complete work on mobile homes.
*We do not complete mold remediation
*We do not work on roofs of homes that are taller than a single story.
*We do not complete foundation repairs.
